Summary

From the author of R&J pick, People Like Her, and for fans of The White Lotus and Big Little Lies, Ellery Lloyd's The Club is an exhilarating, addictive read, telling a story of ambition, excess, and what happens when people who have everything – or nothing – to lose are pushed to their limit。

There’s no place like Home 。 。 。

The Home Group is a collection of ultra-exclusive private members' clubs and a global phenomenon, and the opening of its most ambitious project yet – Island Home, a forgotten island transformed into the height of luxury – is billed as the celebrity event of the decade。

But as the first guests arrive, the weekend soon proves deadly – because it turns out that even the most beautiful people can keep the ugliest secrets and, in a world where reputation is everything, they'll do anything to keep it。

If your name's on the list, you're not getting out 。 。 。

This was a fun surprise! Definitely kept me guessing the whole time。 The ending was very solid and the writing style was different, but I loved it。 Excited to see what else Ellery has written。

So bad。 The premise sounded so promising, but there were so many different characters with mid-page flashbacks to a plot that loosely intertwined with the stories of some of the other characters。 Just so much going on and hard to follow, but not in the fun way。 The best part of the book was the epilogue as it was straight forward。 I don’t mind lots of characters or a convoluted plot, but it has to be written well and thus was mor。 Save your time!

DNF at 20%。 I read some reviews that say it starts slow and picks up later but I don't want to wait for that。 Already, it's difficult to follow all the characters and I didn't really care about the club。 DNF at 20%。 I read some reviews that say it starts slow and picks up later but I don't want to wait for that。 Already, it's difficult to follow all the characters and I didn't really care about the club。 。。。more

Just when you think it's a typical book about entitled idiots who inhabit the world of celebrity and rules and laws don't apply to them, it twists and i began to feel empathy for the other characters。I hope this is not a one off and a follow is in the works。 Just when you think it's a typical book about entitled idiots who inhabit the world of celebrity and rules and laws don't apply to them, it twists and i began to feel empathy for the other characters。I hope this is not a one off and a follow is in the works。 。。。more

3。5? Quick who done it。 Felt like a 300 page People magazine article quite frankly。 I had fun trying to tie which celebs in The Club were caricatures of real life people。 Freddie/Jimmy Fallon? Ron Cox/Harvey Weinstein? Felt a little to neatly tied up for me, too。

It is really 2。5 stars, but I rounded up because maybe it would have been better if I had read and not listened。 There were so many different narratives of angry and vengeful people。 The last 25% was much better as I finally understood who was mad at whom and for what reason。

Everyone’s Dying to Join 。 。 。The Home Group is a glamorous collection of celebrity members’ clubs dotted across the globe, where the rich and famous can party hard and then crash out in its five-star suites, far from the prying eyes of fans and the media。The most spectacular of all is Island Home—a closely-guarded, ultraluxurious resort, just off the English coast—and its three-day launch party is easily the most coveted A-list invite of the decade。But behind the scenes, tensions are at breakin Everyone’s Dying to Join 。 。 。The Home Group is a glamorous collection of celebrity members’ clubs dotted across the globe, where the rich and famous can party hard and then crash out in its five-star suites, far from the prying eyes of fans and the media。The most spectacular of all is Island Home—a closely-guarded, ultraluxurious resort, just off the English coast—and its three-day launch party is easily the most coveted A-list invite of the decade。But behind the scenes, tensions are at breaking point: the ambitious and expensive project has pushed the Home Group’s CEO and his long-suffering team to their absolute limits。 All of them have something to hide—and that’s before the beautiful people with their own ugly secrets even set foot on the island。 As tempers fray and behavior worsens, as things get more sinister by the hour and the body count piles up, some of Island Home’s members will begin to wish they’d never made the guest list。Because at this club, if your name’s on the list, you’re not getting out。This is a brilliant read。Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start。Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable。Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously。Can't wait to read what the author brings out next。Recommend reading。I was provided an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher。 This is my own hone\st voluntary review。 。。。more

Good bookDefinite beach read! Good story though, with some good plot twists and interesting art styles。 I thoroughly enjoyed this book。

I did not care for this book very much。 I just kept reading to finish it。 A little too preposterous for my taste

3。3。 Lots of characters to track and descriptions of the clubs, hair, and exclusive-ness。 Book was fine and had some thriller-like moments, but nothing hugely exciting。 The characters were fairly one dimensional so they kept to the script which also kept the surprises to a minimum It wasn’t a bad book, but would make a more intriguing movie。

Laura

3。5 stars - I was intrigued but also bored through much of the first half。 I wanted to stop reading a few times but needed to know how it ended。 Not a bad ending but definitely a slow, slow burn of a story。

Samantha King

I enjoyed this read。 Lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing。

Long Review, 5 star book, murder/mystery, 6 POVs。Summery:Ned Groom, a guy with anger issues and a ton of money buys a Island, and turns it into one of his clubs: Island Home, where you can be you without worrying about getting your photo taken of you doing something that could perhaps end your entire careers。 There are similar clubs like this all around the world (the organization called Home Group): Covent Garden, Manhattan Home, Santa Monica Home, Highland Home, Country Home, Cannes Home, Hamp Long Review, 5 star book, murder/mystery, 6 POVs。Summery:Ned Groom, a guy with anger issues and a ton of money buys a Island, and turns it into one of his clubs: Island Home, where you can be you without worrying about getting your photo taken of you doing something that could perhaps end your entire careers。 There are similar clubs like this all around the world (the organization called Home Group): Covent Garden, Manhattan Home, Santa Monica Home, Highland Home, Country Home, Cannes Home, Hamptons Home, Venice Home, Shanghai Home, etc etc。 Ned keeps blackmail footage of the members who go there-such as Jackson Crane, Ron Cox, Keith Little, Annie Sparks, Adam Groom (Ned's younger brother), and many, many more-and keeps them on memory sticks。 When secrets start threatening to spill, mistakes and risks are made。 My review:The Club by Ellery Lloyd had me jumping up and down, excitement boiling in my veins。 I literally could not put down the book as I got closer to who killed who and why and with what, and everytime I did put it down, I felt like the book was going to disappear or something and I would have to wait, God knows how long, until I get to read it again。 It's maybe one of my favorite books。Explicit information:Depending on your definition of "explicit", some scenes may not be suitable for those under 14; It has mentions of sex, many times, but there are no sex scenes。 There is rape, but again, its only mentioned and there are no "active" rape scenes。 There is a part in the book where a guy takes photographs of a young (20's?) girl naked, who was drugged。 Words such as fuck/fucking/fucked/etc, shit, ass, etc, are in the book。 There are some bloody scenes, but I mean, what can you expect when at the end of the summery it says, "Because at /this/ club, if your name is on the list, you're not getting out。"?? A happy ending? No。 Overall:I would say if your not into drugging/any amount of blood scenes/lots of swearing, this book might not be the right choice。 But, if you continue to go ahead and read it, I would say it's worth it。 I recommend this book to anyone who has read books by Jennifer Lynn Barnes。 If your into murder, mysteries, multiple perspectives, then I recommend The Club by Ellery Lloyd。 。。。more

this was such an interesting read。 it’s not that dissimilar from people like her, but it had new insights into Celebrity and the idea of influencers that played out better here i think。pretty solid read and i think they’re much better suited to a third person story

I received an ARC of “The Club” from Netgalley。 This book was a page turner but it took a while for the story to take off。 I found the story flow to be a bit confusing and there were a lot of characters to keep track of。 The story was interesting and had lots of twists and turns but I ultimately was kind of meh about it。 I didn’t care about any of the characters and I didn’t like any of them。

Carol Rogers

Very very mixed feelings about this book。 I was drawn in by the cover and the blurb。 Sadly I don't think it lived up to it。 It was a very slow burner, really escalating around 40% when it got interesting, telling lots of secrets。 However, around 70% I was just desperate to reach the end。 I actually skipped over the last 5% skim reading it。 Had such potential, could be really interesting, but had a lot (too much) filler。 Very very mixed feelings about this book。 I was drawn in by the cover and the blurb。 Sadly I don't think it lived up to it。 It was a very slow burner, really escalating around 40% when it got interesting, telling lots of secrets。 However, around 70% I was just desperate to reach the end。 I actually skipped over the last 5% skim reading it。 Had such potential, could be really interesting, but had a lot (too much) filler。 。。。more

This book sounded really good but for me, it fell flat。 It was slow going, and while it wasn’t the worst book I’ve ever read, it wasn’t the greatest either。 There were a lot of characters to keep track of, most of it was predictable, but even that being said there were some parts that were good。 Again, not the worst book, but I hoped it would be better than it was。

Julie

While the story itself is decent, I always find it hard to give high marks to a book where most of the characters are horrible people with no redeeming qualities, hence my 2 star rating。
